Mahmoud is a fiber artist from Aleppo, Syria, where his family has been weaving for over 600 years. He has worked in Syria, Turkey, the United Arab Emirates, and the United States.

The Syrian Civil War forced Mahmoud into an unwelcomed odyssey, separating him from his homeland, family, and the echoes of his cultural birthright. Despite the upheavals and displacements, his commitment to the ancestral artistry of weaving remained unshaken.

His work focuses on fluidity of life, utilizing thick and colorful fibers to represent trauma and forces that disrupt life.

He is the last custodian of his family’s legacy, and his mission is to share weaving with the world.
